About the Agricultural Museum of Pyles
You can find the Agricultural Museum (Αγροτικό Μουσείο Πυλών) on the southeastern side of Pyles, directly at the east entrance of the village, if you arrive from the direction of Aperi. Next to the main road where the road gets wider, there are some parking lots for visitors.
The small private museum is an open air museum in Karpathos, and offer primarily outdoor exhibitions to introduce the local farming, agricultural plants and old tools.
In the courtyard of the museum visitors can see an old wine press, a traditional windmill, and a small farmhouse with a lot of old tools.
There is a tiny open air theater also, where the visitors can listen some presentations from the host. In the farmhouse live some household animals too, for example chickens or donkey.
The small Agricultural Museum of Pyles (Αγροτικό Μουσείο Πυλών) offers to its visitors a glimpse into the old times of Karpathos, when the residents of the island lived mainly on agriculture. The traditional tools and old techniques can be interesting for children or for everyone who do not see such things in these days.
It’s worth to know that this museum is quite small, a visit here usually takes just a few minutes. Due the location of the place the panoramic views are great to the sea and to the west coast of Karpathos island.
