The best views
Karpathos island is famous from its stunning landscapes and exceptional natural beauty. In the island there are many panoramic views, with magnificient visuals to the wild mountains, picturesque villages and the Aegean sea! You can reach many of these points easily with car or a motorbike, but a few needs some hiking.
Kali Limni, Lastos
The largest part of Karpathos island is characterized by high mountains. The highest peak of the island (and also of Dodecanese islands) is called Kali Limni, it is located 1215m above sea level. Kali Limni can be accessed only on foot, there are 2-3 different walking routes to the peak, the easier one starts from Lastos plateau. This is also a small agricultural area, with a few houses and some farms. You must drive to Lastos and park your car at the and of the road, there is a small tavern (Coordinates: 35.579564, 27.139898). The walking starts here, along the dirt track leading upside. There are only a few posts all the way to the top, as well as red dots on rocks. The path is rocky and narrow, but you will see the right way. There are no trees at all, and natural shades is missing too, you must carry with yourself some head gear, and don't forget the water of course. The walk takes about 1'30, and you reach the top of Karpathos!
Viewpoints around Apella beach
There are several amazing viewpoints on the way to Apella beach. Just stop at the parking sites and enjoy the panorama of the high mountains of Karpathos and the turquoise waters of Apella!
Chapels and windmills in Olympos
Olympos village has many spectacular viewpoints to every direction. Our biggest favourites are the balconies with vivid flowers, the wild cliffs, the tiny chapels, and the windmills on the top of Olympos!
View to Kyra Panagia
One the most known symbols of Karpathos is the bay of Kyra Panagia. Don't miss to visit the church's garden, which offers you the best views to the village!
View to Menetes and Pigadia
The chapel over Menetes has awesome viewpoints. From the garden you can see the village below, and also Pigadia on the east.
View from Volada
If you stop your car next the road on the way to Volada, you can see Aperi and Pigadia also.
Views from Mesochori
If you visit Mesochori village, you can see wild mountains facing west, tiny chapels, and whitewashed houses of the village.
War memorial, Menetes
The memorial near Menetes offers a really picturesque view to the visitors. You can see the chapel and its cemetery, and of course the steep cliffs of Menetes.
The hills over Adia beach
On the western side of Karpathos there are many viewpoints next to the road. Just stop the car above Adia beach and and enjoy the view of the western side of the island!
