The village is well known for its amazing beach, which is one of the symbols of Karpathos. Reaching Kyra Panagia is easy, accessible by car or bike, just follow the road signs on the eastern main road. It is a small bay formed at the mouth of a valley, surrounded by high cliffs and large mountains. The village is not big at all, there are only some apartments, taverns, and a small souvenir shop. The paved streets are narrow and filled with vivid flowers, pine trees and tamarisks. Next to the road there are many parking sites.

The scenery of Kyra Panagia is impressive, the vertical walls of the gorge are breathtaking. At the southern side of the village there is a charming church with red dome, its garden is a shady and peaceful place, offering amazing views to the beach.

The famous beach of Kyra Panagia is pebbly, well-organised, the water is usually calm and has an amazing emerald and turquoise color.
