Pyles
Small village with cobble stoned streets on the west side of Karpathos.
Pyles (Piles) is a mountain village, built on the slopes of the western hills, and it has excellent views of the sea. The small settlement is just next to Othos, with traditional stone houses, narrow alleys, lush vegetation. In the center of Pyles you can find the most important church of the village, church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, which is celebrated on August 15th. The church has an interesting tower, holding by two columns. Many of the houses are in good condition, the locals are spending a lot of time to modernize them.
The Agricultural Museum of Karpathos is located here, at the entrance of the village. The museum includes a traditional farmhouse with animals, a windmill, a wine press, a stove, and a variety of items used in everyday rural life in the island.
