Damatria beach Karpathos island south

Damatria is one of the nice beaches of the island with some white pebbles, golden sand and calm waters.

This beach is hidden by some hills in the eastern side of the island, but the clarity of the sea can be viewed from the main road between Amoopi and the airport of Karpathos. The secluded Damatria bay has beautiful turquoise waters and coarse white pebbles, with golden sand at some places. The narrow road, which leads here from the main road, begins only a few hundred meters in the north from Afiartis, coordinates of the junction: 35.451226, 27.158433.

Damatria beach Karpathos

In recent years Damatria beach become more popular, the area is slightly organized with parking lot, a small tavern, and some parasols and sunbeds for rent of course. There are some other small bays in the area, which are more quieter than Damatria and are linked with a narrow dirt road. The seabed at this beach is quite shallow, and usually waves are not significant. In front of Damatria, only a few hundred meteres away there is a small and rocky island, called 'Moira', with some ancient ruins.
