Archeological Museum of Karpathos, Pigadia

The Archeological Museum of Karpathos is a small, but important museum in Pigadia, with an interesting collection of ancient artifacts.

The Archeological Museum is dedicated to the ancient history of Karpathos and the neighboring Kasos island. Despite its small size this museum is one of the most important museums of Karpathos, due to the roots of the island. The Archeological Museum has easy access, it is located in one of the wings of the prefecture building of Karpathos, behind the outer port of Pigadia. The exhibitions can be viewed according to eras in a few rooms, from prehistoric times to Byzantine era.

The visitors of the museum can meet the important findings of the ancient cities, Arkesia or Vrikous. Behind glass walls there are limestone figures, ceramic ovens, marble sculptures, golden and silver coins from Minoan and Mycenean eras, with interpretations in Greek and English languages.
