Where to find Agios Nikolaos in Karpathos Island and how to get there
The capital of the island, Pigadia (Κάρπαθος) is situated about 28 kilometers from Agios Nikolaos, and the village can be accessed by a narrow and winding road from Spoa village, in the north part of Karpathos Island. At the end of the road there is a small port of Ag. Nikolaos with a few parking lots. If you would like to discover Agios Nikolaos, just park your vehicle here because this small resort has only a few sidewalks from this point.

Agios Nikolaos (Άγιος Νικόλαος – Σπόα) is a tiny village with just 7 residents, which normally has just a few visitors. It is located relatively far from the most popular villages and largest towns of Karpathos island, and this small settlement is well hidden by the surrounding mountains. The atmospheres of Agios Nikolaos are very quiet and peaceful, even during the summer months, when Karpathos become much more visited.

The port of Agios Nikolaos (Άγιος Νικόλαος) is one of the smallest port in Karpathos Island, which is mostly used by some local fishermen. Duee to tiny size of the port only small fishing boats and ribs can dock here. This port is also used by the residents of Spoa village.

The main parking lot of Agios Nikolaos is located behind the port, which is of course free and has enough spaces for 10-15 cars. When you visit the village, you can’t miss this parking lot, because the road which leads down from the hills to Agios Nikolaos ends here.

The crystal clear waters around Agios Nikolaos beach are ideal for swimming and snorkeling in Karpathos Island, and there are some small bays and hidden gems in the area which are especially great for this fun. The beach is slightly organized with some parasols and sunbeds, but it is almost never overcrowded.

The main attraction of Agios Nikolaos of Spoa in Karpathos Island is its calm atmospheres and picturesque location. Visitors can walk around the port and a few houses, take some photos. The beach is great for a pleasant swim in the sea, and also for snorkeling at the rocks. One of the tiny sights of Agios Nikolaos is its small chapel, which was built on a hill behind the port.

In the area you can visit the narrow streets of Spoa (Σπόα), which is a small village on the hills nearby. The traditional Olymbos village (Όλυμπος) is situated about 24 kilometers away, the beaches of Kato Lefkos are 13 kilometers away, and the whitewashed houses of Mesochori can be find 11 kilometers from here.
Interesting fact, that there are two places in Karpathos island with the same name, but these are far away from each other. Agios Nikolaos (of Spoa) is located about 33 kilometers away from Agios Nikolaos beach, which is a golden coast next to Arkasa (Arcesin) village.
