Where is Fokia beach in Karpathos Island

The narrow and winding asphalted road which leads to Fokia beach (Paralia Fokia, Παραλία Φώκια), begins at the first houses of Amoopi (Ammopi) village, on the southwestern part of the village. At the end of the road there is a small parking lot, from where you can easily walk down to the beach.

It’s important to know that Fokia beach is situated about 3 kilometers away from the central area of Amoopi if you drive here by car, and due to the local geographical conditions there is no sidewalk from the direction of Votsalakia and Kastelia beaches.

What you need to know about Fokia beach in Amoopi (Lakki)

Fokia beach (Paralia Fokia, Παραλία Φώκια) is a tiny bay, which is characterized mostly by pebbles and rocks. Due to its distance from the central areas it is much less popular than other beaches in Amoopi (Lakki), such as Mega Amoopi beach, Votsalakia beach or Kastelia beach. This beach is the most secluded place among Amoopi beaches, but usually it is organized with a few parasols and sunbeds for rent.

The seabed is shallow, and it is covered by coarse sand, which changes to pebbles and stones in the sea. Swimming shoes can be very useful here!

Fokia beach is surrounded by some cliffs in the background, which make some protection from the winds, but on the sea it can be windy.

On the southern side of Fokia beach there is a small area for the local fisherman’s boats, but as you can on the photos in fact it’s just a tiny place, where the small boats are released into the sea.

Fokia beach is usually not crowded at all, its visitors are mostly the guests of the accomodations nearby. When the sea surface is calm here, this place can be suitable for snorkeling and swimming, like as other great beaches of Amoopi village.

The nearest acommodations to Fokia beach are located in Amoopi. This seaside resort is well known and beloved by the travellers, because the local beaches are extremely varied, and recommended for families and for couples as well.
